DBT Learning Community: Pre-Training Consultation Team Preparation Program for DBT Intensive Training

The DBT Learning Community is a guided, team-based self-study program designed to prepare clinicians for participation in the official DBT Intensive Training.

Rather than serving as a simple introductory course, the Learning Community focuses on helping clinicians develop and sustain a functioning DBT consultation team prior to entering formal training. Through this process, participants study the core concepts, structure, and strategies of DBT while simultaneously establishing the collaborative team environment essential for successful DBT implementation.

The curriculum-based Learning Community guide is organized around carefully selected foundational readings, key research articles, and core DBT materials addressing the theoretical foundations, treatment structure, and clinical strategies of DBT. The program is designed to provide a strong clinical and organizational foundation for real-world DBT practice.

Each treatment team meets weekly for one hour to read and discuss essential literature and clinical materials. Across approximately 20 sessions, participants move beyond knowledge acquisition toward becoming an actively functioning DBT treatment team supported by ongoing consultation and shared clinical responsibility.

Many professionals interested in DBT are currently preparing for the 2nd DBT Intensive Training through participation in the Learning Community. Enrollment for 2nd DBT Intensive Training remains open, and new participants may join ongoing Learning Community teams at any time.

Clinicians interested in participating in the official DBT Intensive Training program—completed by more than 100,000 professionals worldwide over the past 30 years—are encouraged to contact DBT Korea or review and submit the application form below.
